However, the Hellfire Club are prepared for them. Mastermind is able to convert Jean Grey fully into the Black Queen, and the X-Men are quickly captured by one of their own. With a battle on the astral plane striking Cyclops down, will the X-Men be able to defeat the Inner Circle? (They can). Will Jean shake off her brainwashing? (She will). Will Jason Wyngarde get what's coming to him? (He absolutely will and it will be soooooo awesome!)

The X-Men split up only to be ambushed by their new foes, The Hellfire Club, at both locations.
